Assailant News

Charles Soule, Black of Heart and NYCC 2013!!

Convention season has been in full swing so it’s been a while since the last update. Baltimore, Cincy Expo and Wizard World Ohio were all AMAZING shows and I can’t say THANK YOU enough for the supporters who stopped by the Assailant booth eager to check out our books or excited to pick up the new issues of Binary Gray and Black of Heart.

A special thanks to artist David Hollenbach who came out all the way from Philadelphia to to join me in Columbus at Wizard World. This was our first show together and it was great for me (personally) to see him experiencing the reaction readers and comic fans have to his artwork. David will also be joining me at NYCC 2013 this year October 10th-13th!! Speaking of which, a VERY special thanks and shoutout to COMICRELATED.COM who were kind enough to give us the table space at this year’s New York Comic Con along with writer/friend James Maddox. Chuck, John and Brant have been very big supporters of our work this year and it’s a great compliment and an honor to have been asked to represent Comic Related at the show.

Speaking of compliments – I met writer Charles Soule (Superman/Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing, Red Lanterns) at the Baltimore Comic Con and we talked music/comics. I picked up his book “27”, which I highly recommend, and gave him a copy of Black of Heart. The following week I received this tweet from Charles:

Met a writer named Chris Charlton (@charltonsect) at Baltimore con – he gave me a copy of his Black of Heart #1 – GREAT! Watch this guy.

That’s a HUGE endorsement from one of the hottest writers in comics! Not only that, but he is a genuinely nice guy and it was a pleasure to meet him.

Charles joins comics legend Tony Isabella and “The Walking Dead” artist Tony Moore in sharing kind words for “Black of Heart”. That’s a TON of praise from some amazing people and we couldn’t be more proud of the book! HAVE YOU READ BLACK OF HEART YET? WHY NOT?!! Follow the link for a FREE 12 PAGE PREVIEW!!

Rounding out this update – Binary Gray #6 (and the impending trade) are close to completion, while the first two issues of Open Tree: Legends & Tall Tales are in production and I’m finishing writing a new mini-series with “The Horror Show” artist, Todd Beistel. Things are getting VERY exciting here!

Stay tuned and as always – thanks for continuing to support what we do!

– Chris Charlton
